Grace and I are the owners and directors of CELT and have been running the school since 1989. We are both qualified EFL teachers and have many years' experience teaching abroad and in the UK. Originally from San Francisco, USA, Grace is our Director of Studies and started her teaching career in Italy.

I am the Principal of the school and taught in Spain, France, and La Réunion (Indian Ocean) before returning to Cardiff to teach English at Cardiff University. Cardiff is my hometown and, after returning here, I realised the huge potential of the city as a wonderful destination for foreign students to come and learn English. That's why we created CELT!

As teachers, we care passionately about our students' learning experience and do everything we can to ensure that students benefit fully from their time with us.

English Courses

Levels available: Elementary to Advanced (no classes for beginners) - Standard course - 15 hours per week - Intensive course - 23 hours per week.

Class size: Average 7-8 students per class (maximum 12) Minimum age: 18.

Students can start any Monday (minimum study period is 2 weeks).

Designed for adult students (18+), this course focuses on the 4 main skill areas, i.e. reading, writing, listening, & speaking in addition to grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary work and learner training.

Please note that this course consists of one hour less per week during the summer period (July & August).

IELTS Passport Course:

This is a combination programme of 15 hours per week of General English in the mornings and 8 hours per week of FCE/CAE exam preparation during 3 afternoons.

Levels available: Intermediate to Advanced* Class size: Average 7-8 students per class (maximum 12) Minimum age: 18.

* Please note that this course is not suitable for students below intermediate level.

Students can start any Monday (minimum study period is 4 weeks).

This course is designed to enable students to prepare for the FCE/CAE exams which are recognised by universities and employers throughout the world.

We can arrange for students to take their exam in Cardiff or other local centre in the UK.
