I was born on the other side of the world in New Zealand. After graduating from University with a degree in English and Pure Mathematics and Post Graduate Diplomas in Education and Teaching, I taught a variety of subjects from Chemistry to Latin for 9 years. An exciting 2 years of this was spent in Papua New Guinea where I lectured to teacher trainees in the teaching of English Language. Coming to the UK, I qualified in Personnel Management and worked for 2 years in administration for Logica Limited, a software development company.

I then returned to teaching gaining an RSA Diploma in teaching English Language to adults. For 20 years I have taught English language to a variety of classes from a community class of mothers to a group of advanced foreign students preparing for Cambridge examinations. The last 14 years of this have been spent teaching with Pauline and other professional teachers at the North Finchley site of Barnet College with its richly diverse community of adult learners.
